Spinal Adjustments

The primary goal of chiropractic adjustments is to reduce spinal joint dysfunction, correct misalignments, improve joint motion and remove irritation to the nervous systems and adjacent soft tissues.

These areas of joint dysfunction can affect nearby soft tissues and how our nervous system communicates throughout our body, leading to various symptoms such as pain, muscle spasm, joint inflammation, headaches and a reduction in mobility and overall well being.

There are many ways to adjust the spine which may include the chiropractor using their hands, a specialised treatment table or instrument to apply a very precise and controlled force to a joint complex. Some adjustments may produce a characteristic “popping” sound. This is caused by the release of gas bubbles from the joint space, which is harmless. Other techniques will produce no ‘popping’ at all. Regardless of the method used, they are all designed to be as comfortable as possible.

Which adjusting method is appropriate for you will depend on many factors including bone density, medications and underlying conditions.
